Most experts agree that a serum level of 25(OH)D greater than 30 ng/mL is necessary for
vitamin D to exert its benefits on all tissues; however, some researchers advocate that higher
levels might be needed, claiming an optimal serum level might be 40 ng/mL or higher.* Dietary
